Lord Indra used to give orders to the clouds for rain. The clouds also obeyed that. But after some days, the clouds started behaving as per their wishes. As a result, the Earth drowned in water. All the sacrifices and yagnas were stopped. The sages feared. They complained about this to Devguru Brahma. Seeing the fear of the sages, Devguru called Indra. Lord Indra asked Devguru to order him. Then, Devguru narrated the incident to Indra. Lord Indra called the king of clouds and explained the situation. For some days, the clouds did as per the orders. Then, it started behaving in a different way. Confusion prevailed on the Earth. Seeing this, Indra went under the shelter of Lord Shiva and explained the incident. Lord Shiva called the north clouds which had a crore of clouds. Lord Shiva ordered them to go to Mahakal forest and worship the Shivalinga near Gangeshwar. By this way, his anger will also come down and will not have to produce more rain.
