History

This temple Thiyagarajar is the second to Thiruvarur Thyagarajar. This is also one of the Sabtha Vidanga sthalam (Avani Vidangar and Dance is Birunga Nadanam). Brahman worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. To get rid of Dosham (Brahmahatthi Dhosham) by killing Bahasuran, Veeman worshiped Lord of this temple. This story is depicted in the sudhai Sirpam in the Rajagopuram. Moolavar is of white sand and always coved with Kuvalai and hence this place is called as Thirukkuvalai.
