History
King Nandha Cholan prayed to Lord Ranganathar for a child. Goddess Mahalakshmi manifested as a child floating on a lotus in a pond, whom he raised as Kamalavalli. She grew up and pledged to marry Lord Ranganathar. The Lord appeared in a dream to King Nandha Cholan, who brought her to Srirangam where she merged into the Lord. The King built this temple in commemoration of their sacred marriage.
Architecture & Features
The main deity Azhagiya Manavaalan stands holding the conch and chakra. Goddess Kamalavalli sits beside the Lord as a bride. There is no separate shrine for Thayar, and during annual festival celebrations, Srirangam Utsavar is brought here.
