Birth Star Temple

The temple is located on Thanjavur - Koradacheri - Thiruvarur route and 9 kms from Kordacheri after Ayikkudi. If we come from Kumbakonam -Thiruvarur (SH65), the temple is 11 kms from kudavasal via simizhi, Kapanmangalam.It is 14 kms from Thiruvarur on NH67 after Ayikkudi.

Lord appears here in one of the rarest form as sitting of His vehicle Garuda. Hence Garuda Seva is followed everyday in this temple. It is believed that Sage Mrigandu is worshipping Lord invisibly everyday here. Legend here is that Once when Sage Bruhu was performing penance here under a Vanni Tree, a Chola King disturbed Sage Bruhu by raising high sound to hunt a lion. Sage cursed him to have a lion face. When king begged for the remedy, Sage advised him to take bath in the Vettaru (Vrudha Cauvery) and worship the Perumal here. King followed the advice and got back his original face. Hence this place was became important for the Mirugaseerisham star as king was relieved from the animal face here. It is advised that the people with Mirugaseerisham star to worship Lord here on the star day or Pournami day (Full Moon day) and get rid of adverse planetary effects.
