History

Legend here is Harassed and driven by demons, Devas surrendered to Lord Shiva in Adhirai Zone. This is one of zones where Lord walks during Pradhosa days (13th day from New Moon and Full Moon) and on the Thiruadhirai Star day. During His stay in this zone , Lord would not let down His devotees. Hence He is praised as Abhaya Varadeeswarar. Great Rishis Bhairava and Raivada worshipped the Lord in this temple. Raivada means light emanating from the third eye of Lord Shiva. The Rishi was born from the power of light on the Thiruvadhirai Day.
