Abodes of Shiva

Dakshinamoorthy

Dakshninamoorthy is one of the 64 forms of Lord Shiva. "Dakshin" means south. He is found in all the Saivaite temples facing south. He is white in color wearing either tiger skinned dress or Light golden silk dress and garland made of Vendalai flowers, sitting under a banyan tree made of stone, having four hands, three eyes, with his left leg on his right lap and his right leg on a Demon Muyalagan. There will be four saints called "Sanakaathi Munivargal" (Sananthanar, Sanaathanar, Sanath kumarar and Sananthar) sat below him acquiring wisdom by preaching him silently.
