History
Once Lord Indra and Devas came to Earth to get the advice of Lord Shiva regarding how to destroy Demon Thaarakaasuran. In orders to be not visible to the Demon Thaarakaasuran, Lord Indra and other Devas took the form of an ant and came to the Hill. As the Linga was slippery because of the oil on It, the ants could'nt climb further. So Lord Shiva appeared and ant hill and bent Himself to accept the offerings of the Devas and Indra. The Linga is still in the form of the ant hill and the outer surface of the Linga is hard. Demon Thirisaran's brother Karan also to the form of ant and worshipped the Lord here and attained eternal. |
