Location

This is the 127th Thevara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 10th Sthalam on the South side of river Kaveri in Chozha Nadu. This temple is on the banks of River Kudamurutti. The temple is 1 KM from Thirupoonthuruthi, one of the Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam, 4 Km from Kandiyur, 6.4 KM from Thiruvaiyaru, 15.4 KM from Thanjavur on Kandiyur - Thirukkattupalli Road. No much facilities available here. Better Stay at Thanjavur and visit this temple.

History

It is believed that Kasiba maharishi and AshtaVasus worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Indra worshiped Lord Shiva after creating a pond, took bath and got relieved from the curse. Sundarar was reminded of Nandikeswara’s wedding at Thirumazhapadi.
