Location

This temple is between Mayavaram and Tharangampadi. This place is new called as Keezha Parasallur. This is around 8 kms from Mayavaram. In the Mayavaram-Tharangampadi route when we reach Seem Ponnaar Koil and turn right towards Nalladai. Within a short distance we can see the name board leading you towards Parasallur and should turn right and further proceed two kms in a short lane to reach the temple.

Architecture

This temple is a small temple, having no Rajagopuram. It has praharam for Koshta Durgai, Bramha, Lingothbavar, Dakshinamoorty, Narthana Vinayagar. In the main sanctrum of the temple there is status of the Lord as Urchavathirumeeni with six hands having Soolam, Thandu, Vaall, Mani, Kabalam and Vaall. Underneath this status there is a status like Dakshan performing Yagna.

History

This temple is one among the 8 Veerattasthalams. According to the legends the Veerabatrar was induced here and killed King Dakshan. Since Dakshan performed Yagna here, this place is called Dakshinapuram.

Festival

Four worship services are offered here each day. Sundays in the month of Kartikai (Scorpio) are considered sacred, and the festival images are taken around in procession then. Other festivals celebrated here include Arudra Darisanam, Aadi Pooram and Navaratri.
