Location
The temple is located 25kms from Cheranmahadevi and 45 kms from Tirunelveli. There are plenty of buses from Tirunelveli via Chenamahadevi. Temple is located at foot of the Agasthiyar Hills on the west shore of River Tamarabarani just opposite to the River. This is the place where the River reaches the plain. No much facilities available there. We have stay either at Tirunelveli or Ambasamudram and visit this temple. This temple can be approached in two ways from Tirunelveli. One is via Cheranmahadevi and the other one is via Mukkoodal. |

History
This temple is one of the Nava-Kailaayam Temples around Tirunelveli on the banks of Tamarabarani River representing Sun God. Sage Agasthiyar guided his disciple Sage Uromacha to have a bath at the confluence of Tamabarani River, float nine flowers in the River and worship Lord Shiva at the places where the each flower stops to attain Mukthi. |
