About Janardhana
As Lord destroys demons such as Madhu, Kaitabha and Hayagriva who dwell in the ocean and trouble the gods, as He frees souls from re-birth and grants liberation, as He is without birth, as He removes worldly suffering, and as He can be attained by beings of virtue, He is called 'Janardana'.
He holds the Disc and Conch in His upper left and right hands, and the Club and Lotus in His lower left and right hands.
He is the governing power of the letter 'Pra' of the Gayathri Mantra, 'Vayu Tattva' — one of the 24 Tattvas — and the Urdhvapundra marked on the left side of the abdomen during the dark half of the lunar month, salt, and the south-west quarter.
