About Purusottamaa
As Lord is superior to both classes of immortal beings — the 'Ksarapurusas' (all living beings with mortal-immortal bodies) and the 'Aksarapurusas' (beings such as Sri Mahalakshmi with imperishable bodies) — He is called 'Purusottamaa'.
He holds the Lotus and Conch in His upper left and right hands, and the Club and Disc in His lower left and right hands.
He is the governing power of the letter 'Dhi' of the Gayathri Mantra, 'Rupa Tattva' — one of the 24 Tattvas — and the Urdhvapundra marked on the right side of the abdomen during the dark half of the lunar month, asafoetida, cardamoms, mustard and camphor.
